JULIE STAELIN & ZACK SIMMONS
When it was time to remodel an outdated, cramped, and dark kitchen, this client turned to Julie and CKS for help. They wanted to infuse their home with personality, color and texture while creating a layout which flowed to facilitate gatherings and conversation. To accomplish this, additional space was added to the home and the footprint of the kitchen expanded. Maple flooring was left natural to create a neutral backdrop for all the color to follow. Cabinetry finishes are both neutral and colorful and a multitude of paints were selected to enhance and highlight each area. And by allowing guests to sit at the island along a graceful curve instead of a straight line, people on opposing ends would find it easier to converse. Wood countertops were used for a more tactile texture and the quartz surfaces reflect incoming light to make the space feel large and bright - a welcome and refreshing change for the happy homeowners.
